Light and Shadow in Paper - cut paper techniques and traditions (coursecode: SB-01-19), a few places left
Friday 15 & Saturday 16 November 2019
In this masterclass we will explore the art of cut paper.
Guest teacher Sara Burgess will lead you into the world of light and shadow.
We will begin by learning something of the history of this age-old artistic medium and then gather inspiration from contemporary cut paper artists creating innovative work today.
Time will be spent experimenting with different papers and tools for cutting.
We learn to maximise the possibilities within the positive and negative shapes.
We will start by cutting small projects and then embark on the more elaborate tunnel or accordion books where we can really explore the silhouettes and shadows that give the work its strength and additional dimensions.
Templates will be provided for those without drawing ability.
Consider bringing, but not necessary: any imagery you would like to draw from.
For this masterclass you do not need drawing experience, it challenges both beginners and advanced.
