Start: Monday evening 07 October 2019 until 25 May 2020

This education bookbinding is a yearly course where you learn the craft of bookbinding.
You will start with making simple bookstructures to learn about different materials and techniques, graindirection and how to use this, cutting, folding, measuring and all the trics of the trade.
This course is every week except school holidays and other holidays.
The total education will take four blocs.
If you want to do all the blocs you will need at least two years.
Both years are split in two blocs, each with their own theme.
In every bloc we go deeper in a bindings structure and practice the several manifestations and possibilities of that structure.
Every lesson will end with a few exercises you have to do at home.

The first bloc you learn all about making casebindings, the variations, applications and opportunities.
The first lesson of this bloc we start with making a sample book to keep materials and tests.
The second bloc is about glueless bindings, their applications and variations.

During the course we will learn about materials, designing, theory of colours, theory of backgrounds and a good finishing, which is a must.
Each bloc can be ended with a partial certificate but only if the work is satisfy for such a certificate.

For some parts of this course we might ask guest teachers to teach.
The costs of these extra workshops are not included.
If possible we will visit some interesting binders, institutions or expositions.
